Time for a city trip! Maybe not what you expected while reading the first sentence, but we had to survive a hell of boat trip to get there.
This time it was the turn of Stockholm, Sweden!
Although Sweden is next to Finland we had to be on a boat for quite some time. Almost 12 hours to be exactly...... Watched some series on Netflix (hello Arrow, my old friend), read some books, tried to sleep, try not to have a karaoke session while listening to music, making crazy faces towards Emma to let her know I was bored. But we made it, hello Sweden!
For this city trip we decided to not act as broke students, and booked a hotel for the weekend. It was the cutest small room, a nice bed and a good shower. We were happy kids.
After a good night of sleep (okay not really, but how? With that good bed? HOW) and a delicious breakfast with the Swedish cinnamon bun, Kanelbulle, it was time to do some exploring.
Typically us, we couldn't really find out how to get a ticket for the tram or bus and after asking embarrassing stupid (apparently) questions, we finally got a card to get in the tram and use the metro.
On our way to central of the city, Stockholm already showed us the prettiest of views. As I wrote before that the cities we visited earlier stole my heart, but Stockholm also managed this. I immediately fell a little bit in love with this city and it's old town, the kind people, the funny language and it's nice atmosphere.
We spend our first day in Old Town Stockholm and took part of free walking tour with a funny guide, learned about Stockholm, while we froze a little bit.
The tour showed us Stockholm's best kept secret, this little boy who is looking at the moon, walked us through the narrowest street in Sweden (it's like 90 cm's) and let us see the most beautiful old buildings.
Our second day in this lovely city consisted of watching the change of the guards at the palace and seeing this cool art at Solna Central Station. All the stops in this metro station are painted with different art pieces and let you stand still for a while.
After this it was time for the thing that we were most exciting about *kuch*, spending the night on our gigantic Viking Line ship... Luckily we had a cabin with bunk beds to sleep in, but as you might guess it wasn't our best night ever. But we laughed our asses off, enjoyed some more food and we could look back at a great weekend.
While I'm writing this I had to think about all our previous trips and everything we have done so far. It's so much, we have seen so much already, been to three countries (!!!) and I think I can say we are trying to get the most out of our exchange time here!
In the upcoming weeks there are more exciting things to happen, so stay tuned!
Nähdään,
Aniek
